Lenore Heaney, MS, LMHC

Lenore Heaney is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician who has been practicing in the field for over 20 years. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling at Rhode Island College. She has been a Licensed Mental Health Clinician in Rhode Island since May of 2021.

Sometimes we all need a little extra help or someone outside of our circle to listen and give a fresh perspective. She believes that everyone can change and has the ability to better themselves when life may not feel that way. To take a negative experience and create a positive one. Taking this leap into counseling is not something taken lightly and some may fear they may be judged. So deciding to enter into therapy is a brave decision and is one step closer to becoming a stronger you. In making this decision it is important to choose a therapist that you are comfortable with in order to begin the process of positive change. Lenore will work with you to develop a rapport and ensure you are comfortable throughout the entire process.

Lenore’s expertise lies in working with adults, the elderly, couples, and families. She has worked with clients experiencing adjustments to change, stress, anxiety, depression, anger issues, trauma, grief, panic, self-esteem, eating disorders, body image, personality disorders, hoarding, relationship stressors. work stressors, boundary/limit setting, guilt, asserting oneself, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and medical challenges that can and do impact our daily life.

Lenore utilizes an eclectic approach. She is person-centered and incorporates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure Therapy, Reality Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Supportive and Solution Focused Therapy.

Lenore is the owner and founder of Turning the Tides Counseling, LLC. This has been a lifelong dream to be able to open her own practice where she can provide psychotherapy services to help others recover, regain and relive. Although the idea of meeting with a stranger and telling them your deepest darkest secrets can seem frightening it can also be the first step towards the happiness you have been searching for.

Lenore realizes that entering into treatment is a journey and that is a journey she is eager to explore with you. She will always ensure sensitivity towards the effort and courage you have taken to make this step to seek treatment and will work with you to develop a positive and therapeutic relationship that recognizes your strengths and resiliency.
